Brief History of the College

Zion Bible College has faithfully served the Church through biblical education, leadership training, and spiritual formation for more than six decades.

1964

Establishment

Zion Bible College traces its origin to 1964, when American missionary Ms. Arlene Peterson established a women's Bible school called Sion Ziary at Harisinga with only seven students.

In 1965, according to the decision of Mangaldai Sobha, the school was shifted to No.1 Nalbari. Late Rev. A. K. Sangma was invited to serve as Principal and faithfully led the institution until 1970.

1954 – 1986

Amalgamation

Alongside Sion Ziary, the North Bank Field Council operated Bethel Bible School, established on 15 October 1954 at Biswanathghat with nine students.

As enrollment declined in both institutions, the Executive Committee of the North Bank Baptist Christian Association decided to merge them.

The schools were officially amalgamated in March 1986 and renamed Zion Bible School.

The medium of instruction was later changed from Assamese to English to provide better theological resources and textbooks.

2000

Upgradation to Zion Bible College

Recognizing the growing need for higher theological education, the management upgraded Zion Bible School into Zion Bible College in the year 2000.

The institution began offering Graduate in Theology (G.Th.) and Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.), preparing students for Christian ministry and leadership.

Today, Zion Bible College continues its mission of equipping men and women through sound biblical teaching, spiritual formation, and servant leadership.
